Ciaran chuckled. "Well, a steady paycheck is always nice to have; it certainly pays the rent. However, that's not the main reason why I do this. This is my home; I can't take any of it for granted. I have to help protect it, whether it's by supernatural means or mundane. Besides, showing the rest of Hope that I'm not some ticking timebomb waiting to happen is something I want to prove. I'm from the generation that told me I shouldn't use my abilities and should be ashamed of them; I want to show them they're wrong. I have something to contribute to this city. I know it's very simplistic, but helping people is its own reward."
