But if she shut it off, how could she access the maps? Nevertheless, Katherine retreated several steps and shut her devices down, wondering how she was to keep in touch with Travis now.

((I think we're waiting on W?))

"Seems like you all found what we were looking for."

The young Drifter-woman had stepped out of the back room unannounced, having gone through a multi-layered search in what seemed to have been the wrong direction. Her short crest was laid back in disappointment.

"Where we at?"

Three seemed a little harried, as he'd gone down to the basement to talk to Tam, only to clamber right back up with the two of them.

"I more or less hollered the rest of our game plan at you while coming down to see you," admitted Three, "but I guess all that copper and that wrenching pipes open didn't really make for a good spot to talk about it. We're setting up bait for our guy. If he's listened in, then he knows where we'll canvas if we just proceed as we normally would. Considering, we need to try and catch Michael with his pants down. Proverbially, that is.

What we need is cloaking hardware, something that isn't germane to the Fae, so our guy doesn't suspect anything. We're going to use stuff from your buddy Frank to give Aislinn the look and feel of a young Fae, with some basic cosmetics completing the ruse. Before planting her, we'll try and find how he selects his victims. There's a ton of popular online games portals for kids and teens, I figure we could tap Wyvern to populate a few kids-oriented chatrooms with accounts tied to Aislinn the Fake Fae. If we work off of what Travis and Katherine will have found, we should be able to have a decent profile of what Michael looks for in his targets, or personal situations he recognizes himself in."

He licked his lips. "Hopefully, we should have something concrete within the week if we use enough sock-puppet accounts. Then it's all a matter of setting up a playdate - and coming strapped and with a surveillance van."

The soldier then looked back to Tam. "The best configurable Black Market holographic cloak money can buy. That's your angle, and what's what we need."

Now her brows shot up, even as she grimaced and re-tweaked the small earring that dangled from one side of her head. If one were paying attention past the background noise, one might hear a faint hiss and crackle before it settled out again.

"I- can look into that. I assume you want the belt-based projectors and not the 'cloak' style, those are kinda unwieldy and more for full-on military operations, not flim-flam work. Easier to make, though."

Aislinn then hung up her phone and added her input to the mix, "Belt would probably be better, yeah. My face would just be used for things like avatars or selfies on the chatrooms and social network sites." She then eyed Three. "My friend's got the stuff needed to make me look even younger and suitably Winter-like."

Mary had noticed Tam toying with the earring, but hadn't commented on it. "Good thinking, Drake. Use the smallest and most childlike female as sting bait. Just make sure you're prepared if things go wrong."

"I take it you will not need to inspect my house any longer?" Winters remarked, unable to conceal his relief at the idea.

"I guess," confirmed Aidan, shoving his hands in his pockets and shrugging, "but I'd still schedule something along those lines in the upcoming days. You're a Diviner and you might not enter revelatory trances every two seconds, but you're still a thorn in the side of anyone who has plans that involve us losing credibility and GrifSec taking a plunge in the stock exchange."

Still, he had to be sure. "Have you had anything like that before, actually? I mean, predictions or auguries based on stuff that's less literal than bullet trails or incoming blows. Like stock exchange fluctuations, weather patterns in the coming weeks - stuff like that?"

Jimmy shrugged. "I try not to abuse my powers, of course," he replied modestly. "That being said, though, I do get the occasional forecast or hot tip. Useful for the rare jaunt into day trading, and even more useful for warning the city about incoming severe weather."

"Isn't that illegal?" Mary asked. "Divining on the stock markets, I mean."

Winters gave her a Who do you think you're talking to? kind of look, but shrugged again and grinned. "No law against good luck, my dear," was his cagey reply.

Kramp didn't seem to care either way, and the grin he sent in Winters' direction indicated he thought this was pretty smart, at the very least. "Space it out often enough, fuck up on purpose a buncha times - no-one's gonna care if you suddenly strike it big with an, eh, fortuitous purchase on the market.
- It's still illegal," noted Three, which made the Christmas Devil shrug.

"It isn't any worse than Divining your way through a couple rounds of Craps or Roulette, Drake. Only amateurs would stick themselves up for uninterrupted payouts, just like casino hackers don't re-jig slot machines to spit out jackpots in a row."

Three didn't seem convinced, but he only replied with a shrug. The problem with magic-assisted wealth generation was that it was usually hard to prove. In any case, this wasn't their current issue, so much as Wyvern's Financial Compliance department - eventually, at least. Pending, of course, Winters eventually starting to act like these overeager casino players the Krampus had just described. The odds of that happening seemed astronomically low.

Diviners might have been able to influence the odds in some occasions, but he didn't think a single of Winters' ilk would want to positively influence their chances of going through something reckless.

"Well, I'd suggest making a stop in Providence to ring Alexander Ruthven's doorbell," he then said with a sigh, "but I'm not too convinced he's the direct mastermind. He's been locked in a depressive slump since Elysium, and the real craven bastards are the eighties' relics and Neo-Yuppies sitting in his Board of Directors."

He gave Aislinn a look. "You ever see American Psycho before, Aislinn?"

Aislinn gave a light nod. "Yeah, I have. You think our real culprit might be a Patrick Bateman-expy?" she asked.
