This doesn't go into a ton of details and you'll probably find more exhaustive content elsewhere on YouTube, but this little video gives you an idea of how English would've changed for mundanes over the centuries - and how some Gruffs like Percy still sound like, when they're talking amongst themselves. Percy probably frequently defaults to what you could call "Beowulf English" when addressing his men.
