Theme Songs

Sophia's neck of the woods (pun intended), this is where you should head for any meet-and-greet you'd like to partake in, as well for any discussion that isn't related to role-playing. Have fun, go crazy - but keep your nose clean.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey has great theme song bookends. They tackle themes which I think fits with your two Power Ladies. I figure the opening version, which plays in Greek, would fit Aspasia fairly well. The modern version feels to me like it fits Meris better, in either case, both have identical lyrics.

Look to the stars
Beyond the mountains and the wild sea
Follow your dreams
The bravest hearts
The gods will favor those who dare to see
Courageously
For destiny

Beautiful Island
Bathed in the rising sun
Faith's hand will guide you
Travel in path alone
Back to the warmth of home

Through storms we'll rise
And battles fought under a raging sky
Through watchful eyes

Fearless we breathe
With silent whispers through the ancient trees
Where legends grow
We live in whole

Beautiful Island
Bathed in the rising sun
Faith's hand will guide you
Travel in path alone
Back to the warmth of home

This is going to be one of the more obvious ones, but I'm Going Slightly Mad by Queen pretty much fits all the Freaks. However, with future plot points, I think of Arthur, and Freddie Mercury's Britishness adds to it. And I think the listener he's singing to could be Sophia.

I've never spent much time listening to New Wave stuff beyond my parents' brief infatuation with everything Annie Lennox, but there's something to HEALTH's cover of New Order's Blue Monday that makes me think of Nereus confronting his loss of devotion, perhaps coming to grips with the idea that Amaxi and the Chamberlain are abusive and toxic. I doubt he'd make an EDM show out of it, much less New Order's original orchestration, but HEALTH's added beats feel darker, more urgent - like he's working up the nerve to fight back.

It won't change the fact that the track is practically synonymous with Atomic Blonde, for me. I can imagine Nereus working up the nerve to confess his doubts to Meris for the first time; but that car chase scene, man. That car chase scene.

How does it feel
To treat me like you do?
When you've laid your hands upon me
And told me who you are?
Thought I was mistaken
I thought I heard your words
Tell me, how do I feel?
Tell me now, how do I feel?

Those who came before me
Lived through their vocations
From the past until completion
They'll turn away no more
And I still find it so hard
To say what I need to say
But I'm quite sure that you'll tell me
Just how I should feel today

I see a ship in the harbor
I can and shall obey
But if it wasn't for your misfortune
I'd be a heavenly person today
And I thought I was mistaken
And I thought I heard you speak
Tell me, how do I feel?
Tell me now, how should I feel?

Now I stand here waiting
I thought I told you to leave me
While I walked down to the beach
Tell me, how does it feel
When your heart grows cold?

Another Hozier song, but I thought this one fits Ciaran after Sophia's passing and his departure from Hope. I figure she's like a beacon to him and is what will keep him going in those coming months. I think it conveys his devotion to her quite well. And the feel better lyric makes me think of his knowledge that she will return one day, and it's almost like a prayer to her.

Given the events of the serial rp, Arrows by the Foo Fighters fits Morgan's motivations possibly, maybe even Mab.

Seeing as Eiji Katsumoto is a California-based Japanese Fae, I figure he would've melded a lot of influences together as a casual musician. I picture him as being decent on the shamisen, and being drawn to Bluegrass music in his later American years.

Meld them together, and you get something like this.

I've been listening to Florence and the Machine's Breath of Life repeatedly, and it felt like it's a song that represented how Ariel felt, particularly during the Fall. It took me a bit of time to interpret how it resonated with her character, but it definitely does. I feel like some of the lyrics are the voices she hears at The Ears of God with the variety of conflicting opinions and desires from angels and demons. I think it also conveys she might've lost some friends during those events, like many did. Some only half-heartedly fell, while some embraced it entirely.

Ha oh
I was looking for a breath of life
A little touch of heavenly light
But all the choirs in my head sang no
To get a dream of life again
A little of vision of the start and the end
But all the choirs in my head sang no

But I only needed one more touch
Another taste of heavenly rush
And I believe, I believe it so
And I only needed one more touch
Another taste of devouring rush
And I believe, I believe it so

Whose side am I on, whose side am I?
Whose side am I on, whose side am I?

And the fever began to spread
From my heart down to my legs
But the room was so quiet oh
And although I wasn't losing my mind
It was a chorus so sublime
But the room is too quiet (oh, the fever)

I was looking for a breath of life,
A little touch of heavenly light
But all the choirs in my head sang no (I believe it)
To get a dream of life again
A little vision of the start and the end
But all the choirs in my head sang no

Ha oh
Ha oh
It's a harder way
And it's come to claim her
And I always say
We should be together
I can see below
'Cause there's something in here
And if you are gone
I will not belong here

And I started to hear it again
But this time it wasn't the end
And the room was so quiet, oh
And my heart is a hollow plain
For the devil to dance again
And the room was too quiet, oh

I was looking for a breath of life
A little touch of heavenly light
But all the choirs in my head sang no

Kaleo's Hot Blood reminds me of Melmoth and his growing love for Abdiel, along with turning away from Hell. The hot blood is an obvious reference to the pact they made, and the overall tone might be more overt than Melmoth is willing to admit presently, but I think the passion behind the lyrics and melody work for how he feels. I think it also hints at some of the secrecy they might have to deal with as a couple.
