Streets of Hope

"Two burgers, fries, and a Coke, please. No ketchup." Tam said, still oddly subdued. Her day had been bizarre, and it showed no signs of getting any less surreal- although the comfortably worn air of the diner was somewhat of a balm.

"Let's go."

Tam was quiet on the walk over to the diner; on arriving, she held the door open for her boss, a comical mismatch in heights that was not altogether uncommon in Hope's more diverse gathering-points.

When their customers would turn to leave, Tam responded with a faint nod to Frank's offer of lunch.

The Drifter girl gave a faint shrug and nod, wishing to let the business transaction be completed before going any further into anything.

"Thy will be done, Chief Deputy," Armsbruster said, the hint of a smile quirking one side of his mouth. He nodded once more to Katherine. "If you'll excuse me?" ........ "Stay out of- I just got here!" Tam glared at the young man's retreating back. No use spluttering at...

"Yes ma'am," was Armsbruster's swift reply, after a nod in acknowledgement to Katherine. "Is there a particular angle you'd like approached, or shall I simply work the talkers for now?"

Seeing as the boss was engaged in a business deal, Tam glanced to the nervous-looking newcomer and inclined her head to acknowledge him. If he needed help, she'd do her best. If he needed to talk to Frank, he could wait, and she'd keep him busy.
